If you’ve been following my journey for a while, you know that winter is usually my “season.” There is nothing quite like the crisp air at the top of a peak, the quiet of a fresh snowfall, and that perfect carve on a blue-bird day. But I’m going to be completely honest with you: this winter felt long.
Don’t get me wrong—we had some incredible days on the mountain this year. From family trips to exploring local Quebec gems, the snowboard was my second home. But as the slush starts to take over the streets of Montreal and the “brown season” lingers, I find myself doing something I rarely do in February or March…
I’m actually looking forward to putting my board into storage.
The Winter Fatigue is Real

Maybe it’s the constant layering, the endless shuffling of gear for the kids, or the fact that I’ve spent more time in a parka than in real clothes lately—but the winter fatigue has officially set in. Even for a dedicated “Snowboard Mom,” there comes a point where the magic of the white-capped trees loses its luster and you start dreaming of green grass and iced coffees.
As much as I love the high-intensity energy of a day on the mountain, I’m craving a different kind of rhythm. I’m ready for the “no-fly” summer travel plans I’ve been sketching out. I’m ready for the ease of slipping on a pair of runners and walking out the door without a 15-minute “boot and glove” routine for the whole family.
Finding the New Rhythm

Every year, this transition period reminds me that movement doesn’t have to be seasonal. While I won’t be catching an edge on a groomed run for a few months, I’m channeling that same energy into my spring and summer fitness.
Lately, my focus has shifted from the slopes to focusing on my health with strength training and working out, heading outside more. It’s funny—the same glute and back strength that helps me stay stable on my board is exactly what I’m working on now to feel “snatched” and ready for summer adventures.
What’s on the Summer Horizon?
I’ve already started drafting our summer itinerary, and it’s looking bright. We’re leaning into local discoveries this year—think road trips, exploring the hidden corners of Ontario, and enjoying those beautiful Montreal terrace days that make the long winter worth it.
I’m also trading my heavy technical shells for light windbreakers and my snowboard boots for the Beyondfeel runners. There is something so liberating about the first few weeks of spring when you realize you can move fast, travel light, and finally see the sun past 4:00 PM.
A Season for Everything

To my fellow winter enthusiasts: it’s okay to be tired of the snow! Loving a sport doesn’t mean you have to love the sub-zero temperatures 365 days a year. Embracing the change of seasons is what keeps our hobbies fresh.
So, I’m officially calling it. The board is waxed and tucked away. The summer gear is coming out. And honestly? I couldn’t be happier to see the grass again.
