About the Steamboat Grand Hotel

The Steamboat Grand features 328 beautifully appointed guestrooms in a variety of sizes and styles. Choose from a Double Queen or King room, a Studio, one, two & three bedroom condominiums and eight luxurious penthouses. The Steamboat Grand also offers numerous dining options including the Grand Market for your on-the-go coffee and breakfast selections, Poolside Bistro, Room Service, or a relaxed sit-down dinner at The Cabin where our chef favors scratch cooking and local ingredients for every palate serving breakfast lunch and dinner and daily happy hour specials. Other hotel amenities include valet/bell service, complimentary shuttle service to and from downtown, concierge, underground parking, laundry services, exclusive ski rentals and storage, and the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to the base of Steamboat Resort.

Our Room

We booked a condominium style room which was a 1 king bedroom apartment. We went with this option because we love having our own in-room kitchen. The kitchen in our room was as complete as can be. Each morning we made protein pancakes with a side of fruit. We were able to make this as early or as late as we wanted and were able to get to the hill as soon as breakfast was over.

All condo rentals are appointed with top of the line furniture and appliances, hardwood custom cabinetry, and polished granite counter tops are in all kitchens and bathrooms. All rooms have flat screen TV’s, complimentary wireless internet, humidifier, in-room safe, coffee makers, hair dryers, ironing boards and irons.

We love having a separate bedroom from the living room. The living room had a fireplace which was such a great addition to help us dry our gear at the end of day. Our room was facing the mountain which was so lovely! The only downside to that was that the early morning snow removal machines were right outside our window and was a great morning wakeup call each day.

The price for this room per night was around $400 USD when we booked it which was pretty peak season. For the best quotes, head over to the Steamboat Grand Resort website.

Hotel Amenities

The Steamboat Grand has a lot of amenities including their year-round 85,000-gallon heated pool and two large hot tubs, or get a workout in at their full-service Fitness Center featuring both steam and sauna rooms.

The hot tubs were GREAT for some après ski, and we soaked in those daily. There are two hot tubes, one for 18+ and one for families. They were both busy and parents with little ones were still enjoy a few après ski beverages so if you’re brining your kids, you can still have a great time.

The fitness center was very impressive. If you need to hit the gym before or after your day on the slopes, you’ll find most equipment needed to get your gym on.

The resort also has a few dinning options and a market place called the Grand Market which is conveniently located to the left of the front desk. The Grand Market includes items like snacks, small meals, pastries, pharmacy items and a few beverage options.

One of my most favourite amenities was the Grand Storage. This is a secured locker service to drop off your skis and boards before heading back to the hill. If you’re heading to the hill it’s right before the escalators to the right. It’s very convenient and the staff were so friendly. We dropped off our gear each day and picked up our gear the next morning. It was nice not having our snow covered gear laying around our hotel room. The only thing that went back to our rooms was our snowboard boots (but you did have the option to leave your ski boots if you wanted).

Transport and Getting Around

One we loved about the Steamboat Grand was the on the demand shuttle service. We were able to call the shuttle to the resort just like you would an Uber. It was great to see how long the shuttle would be and when we could expect the pick up. Our driver was super friendly and we really had a great experience. Be sure to download the app so that you can use this service as soon as you get to the resort.
One thing to note that his service get very popular around peak hours, so plan a little extra time during peak hours. Alternatively you could walk across the street and grab one of the public transit buses that are free.

Steamboat Springs has a local bus system that is free to use, and easy to navigate. The Gondola Transit Center (the bus terminal) Is right at the pedestrian entrance of the resort and across the stress from the Steamboat Grand hotel. The bus system is easy to navigate, and google maps was a great tool to use to see when the next buses were to arrive. We hopped on the busses to grab some snacks from City Market (a VERY nice grocery store, don’t go to Walmart, the selection was sub par), and we use the Bus to head into town and discover Steamboat Springs.

Bottom Line

This is a great hotel, with an amazing location and incredible amenities. Is it a bit of a splurge, yes? But you’re able to off set this with your in room kitchen and the ability to make your own breakfasts every morning and pack a lunch for the day. We loved our stay at the Steamboat Grand and would high recommend to anyone planning on vacationing to Steamboat.
