Planning a family vacation to Niagara Falls? With its majestic waterfalls, breathtaking views, and plenty of fun activities for kids of all ages, Niagara Falls is the perfect destination for your next family getaway. From exciting boat tours to carnival like atmosphere, there’s no shortage of things to do when you plan your Niagara Falls vacation with kids. This post will provide you with some helpful tips on how to plan the perfect Niagara Falls family adventure.

Choosing the Right Accommodation for Your Family

Choosing the right accommodation for your family is crucial when planning a family vacation to Niagara Falls. We booked at the Courtyard Marriott, located just steps away from Clifton Hill. The family suites offered by this hotel were perfect for us, providing ample space for our family to relax and unwind after a day of exploring.

The convenience of being so close to Clifton Hill was a major plus, as it allowed us easy access to all the family-friendly attractions and activities that the area has to offer. (more on that later)

The hotel also had an indoor and outdoor pool which my kids LOVED. The outdoor pool was a little cold so we didn’t stay long in there, but we did enjoy the indoor pool!

Exploring the Natural Wonders of Niagara Falls

The only way, in my opinion, to see the falls is by boat. We booked the boat tour which takes you right the the base of the falls. The boat tour was absolutely breathtaking, allowing us to get up close and personal with the sheer power and beauty of the falls. The mist from the cascading water engulfed us, creating a magical atmosphere. Yes, we got wet. Yes, it’s super windy. Yes, you can take some shelter from it all which my 6 year old did. It’s absolutely worth it to take advantage of this amazing experience.

After the boat tour, we decided to explore the surrounding area and take in more of the natural wonders that Niagara Falls has to offer. We discovered a series of walking trails that allowed us to get different viewpoints of the falls, including a stunning panoramic vista. The kids were in awe of the vastness and grandeur of the falls, and we couldn’t help but be amazed ourselves.

As we marveled at the natural wonders of Niagara Falls, we couldn’t help but appreciate the beauty of Ontario travel. The province is home to so many breathtaking destinations, and Niagara Falls is undoubtedly one of the crown jewels. We felt lucky to have the opportunity to explore this natural wonder with our kids and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Next up, we’ll be sharing our favourite family-friendly attractions and activities in Niagara Falls. Stay tuned for more tips on planning your perfect family adventure in this incredible destination!

Family-Friendly Attractions and Activities

As mentioned previously, Clifton hill is the place to be. If you’re looking for family-friendly attractions and activities in Niagara Falls, Clifton Hill is the place to be. With its vibrant atmosphere and a wide range of entertainment options, there is something for everyone in the family. One of the highlights is the Clifton Hill Speedway, where your kids can feel the thrill of go-kart racing. My kids were a little too short to be drivers, so they drove in the passenger seat. (taking pictures while driving was not allowed, so you’ll have to take my word that it was amazing, and everyone in the family had the best time!) Mom & Dad got to race!!!

Another fun stop is the Dino Golf, a mini-golf course with a dinosaur theme that will spark your little one’s imagination. This was super affordable and kills a solid hour from start to finish.

Another quirky picture opportunity is the Upside Down House, a unique attraction that will make you question your sense of reality. We didn’t buy passes to go in as we felt it was a bit pricy, but the picture opportunity alone was totally worth it.

And of course, no trip to Clifton Hill is complete without visiting the arcades, where your kids can try their luck at various games and win prizes. These arcades are ticket based and you earn tickets based on how well you did on most days. My kids are very proud to tell everyone that they earned over 1000 tickets (which is true).

Aside from Clifton Hill, there are other family-friendly attractions in the area. Journey Behind the Falls offers a fascinating experience where you can see the power and beauty of the falls up close. The Butterfly Conservatory, where your children can marvel at the colourful and delicate creatures fluttering around them. We didn’t have time to check these attractions out, but they are certainly good ones!

Tips for a Smooth and Enjoyable Trip

It’s important to plan your activities in advance and book any tickets or tours ahead of time to avoid long wait times.

To make the most of your trip, be sure to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Niagara Falls can be quite windy, so bring layers and a waterproof jacket. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, as you’ll be doing a lot of exploring.

Another tip is to arrive early in the day to avoid crowds. The falls can get very crowded, especially during peak tourist season. By arriving early, you’ll have a better chance of getting good views and taking photos without the crowds.

If you’re traveling with younger children, consider bringing a stroller or carrier to make navigating the attractions easier. Some attractions, like the Journey Behind the Falls, involve a lot of walking and stairs, so keep that in mind when planning your itinerary.

Lastly, don’t forget to take breaks and enjoy the scenic beauty of the falls. (We walked back to the hotel for naps so that we could recharge and last longer in the day in town).
There are plenty of picnic areas and green spaces where you can relax and take in the stunning views. And of course, don’t miss the nightly fireworks display over the falls, a perfect way to end your day.

Final Thoughts

Overall, our family vacation to Niagara Falls was a memorable experience that provided us with a perfect balance of natural beauty and family-friendly attractions. If you’re considering a trip to Ontario, I highly recommend planning a visit to this stunning destination with your kids. It truly is a party for kids with a little wonder for adults!
