This past weekend, my husband came up with a great family activity – “Watch Planes take off.” Seems simple enough, but where?
If you have a toddler you know this will be a huge hit, and it was. He actually ventured last weekend to another spot, and after some serious searching, learned about Jacques-De-Lesseps Observatory Park in Dorval. This park is located right beside one of the runways at Montreal Trudeau Airport (YUL). With the majority of the planes on this runways taking off, there was a lot of action (a few landed, but it was all about the take off really).

This park itself is great. There are benches, information maps (and QR codes if you want to learn more with your mobile device) garbage, and a nice mound to watch the planes from. You can go right up to the fence. As for parking, you park on the street – there were some no parking signs for certain days – so read the signs.
We were there on Sunday morning and it was rather quire. I could imagine, that it could get busy when the big jets are in town.

A great free family activity to do and a definite repeat!

(Ps. Don’t be like us and forget suncreen…. it’s very exposed with no shade).
