Why You Should Travel to Nova Scotia This Summer: The Perfect Time to Explore Canada’s East Coast
Nova Scotia is home to some of the most awe-inspiring natural landscapes in Canada. From the rugged cliffs of the Cabot Trail to the serene beaches of the Eastern Shore, there’s no shortage of stunning vistas to explore. Hiking, kayaking, whale watching, or simply taking in the coastal views—Nova Scotia’s outdoor adventures are second to none. And with the exchange rate in your favor, you can make the most of your time in this picturesque province, all without the added expense of international travel.
Getting around Nova Scotia is fun adventure by car, especially from Montreal. As I looked into the drive to Halifax from Montreal, it’s a 12 hour drive. For us, this is not a day trip, but an opportunity to have a drive that is split over the course of two days.
Finding a place to stay most likely in New Brunswick would help split up the drive over the 2 days. Now driving might not be for everyone, and so there are several flight options – flights are relatively short from Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa.
So what’s there to do in Nova Scotia Anyways?
As I started my research for this summer’s travel, I was really surprised as to how many things there are to do in Nova Scotia and specifically around Halifax. There are so many great museums, boats, shops, and even beaches to discover all either in the city of Halifax or within a 30-45 min drive from the city.
I also notices there are so many summer events, festivals, and outdoor activities are also free or low-cost, making Nova Scotia an excellent destination for budget-conscious travellers.
We’ll be focusing out travel specifically on the Halifax and surrouding area. As we’ll have a car, it will be easy for us to move around, but we also want the ability to park the car and move around by foot easily.
Things to do in Halifax
Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse
No trip to Nova Scotia is complete without a visit to the iconic Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse.
