With over 200 native and exotic animals, you can go for an airboat tour, drive through their safari park, or walk through their gator park and animal petting zoo. Wild Florida is truly one of a kind. Spending a day at Wild Florida is very easy! So let’s get into it!

Everglades Airboat and Swamp Tour

We chose an hour long Airboat and Swamp tour. Wild Florida also offers 30 minutes, half days and evening rides. We found with our kids, 1 hour was absolutely perfect. From elusive alligators lurking in the murky depths to graceful wading birds gliding effortlessly through the air, the Everglades are teeming with life at every turn. With expert guidance from your tour captain, you’ll have the opportunity to spot these incredible creatures in their natural habitat, observing their behaviours and learning about their crucial role in the delicate balance of the ecosystem.

After some helpful info, and the mandatory safety briefing, we were on our way to the glades. Our first stop, and I mean not longer than 5 minutes from our departure, our captain spotted the first alligator. I spotted the baby first, and then we saw the big alligator close by. He or She was just basking in the sun!

Fun Fact: The best time of year to see the Gators is during the winter months. This is because the gators are looking to warm up, and spend all day soaking up the sun. In the summer, the reverse happens and they get too hot so they tend to spend their days laying at the bottoms of the swamps or lakes to cool down.

Onto the next spot we saw several birds and learned that the Great Blue Herron is actually one of the top predators to the alligators as they will eat the babies. Heck, apparently the parents will eat their young too! Poor little guys are under attack the first few years of their life. We then saw some turtles, and then, the wildest thing I think I ever saw was a cow. Yes a cow.

So the story with the cows is that there is an agreement with the state of Florida and some local ranchers that the cows can roam around the swamps. The cows love it as there is a ton of fresh water and green grass to eat, and on hotter days they are cooled right down in the swamp. The alligators are not interested in the cows as they are far too big.

We were then onto the next spot and saw a few more birds, and then before you knew it some more baby gators and 3 of the biggest alligators I ever saw just hanging out. They were living their best life, truly!

Before you knew it, our hour was over and it was really the perfect amount of time to see all the wild life these Floridian swamps had to offer.

Our captain was so kind, and had so much information to share with us. The boys loved their boating experience and though it was “so cool!”

A Walk Through the Gator Park

After a quick break, we then headed to the Gator park to see many more alligators (this time in pens) and see some of the exotic animals that call Wild Florida home! Wild Florida has 2 albino alligators, as well as a few sloths. I’m a HUGE sloth fan, and I was all too excited to watch the sloths hang out.
With their furry coats, expressive eyes, and seemingly perpetual smiles, sloths are undoubtedly among the most captivating creatures on the planet. At Wild Florida, guests have the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with these adorable slowpokes, learning about their fascinating behaviours and the vital role they play in their native habitats.

Conservation Commitment:

At Wild Florida, conservation isn’t just a buzzword – it’s a core value that guides every aspect of the park’s operations. With a commitment to sustainable practices and wildlife preservation, Wild Florida strives to ensure a brighter future for all creatures, great and small. By participating in sloth encounters and supporting Wild Florida’s mission, visitors play a crucial role in advancing these conservation efforts.
