The Annual Montreal Museums Day in Montreal is back and bigger than ever as it’s in collaboration with Montreal’s 375th! 43 museums from across Greater Montréal will be taking part in this springtime open house this sunday May 28th. (that’s right, it’s ALL FREE!) They’ve put together a truly original historical museum rally for you! On this 375th anniversary, the museums are celebrating Montréal’s memories and creativity. There’s something for every taste, from history to art, science, archaeology, fashion, nature, film and music.
Come soak up the festive atmosphere on the Promenade des artistes, the starting point for STM shuttles, with its historical figures, music and art. With public transit so easily accessible that day, there isn’t even a reason to bring your car! Take advantage of the metro and bus services that day!
Here are a few things going on from 9am to 4pm at the Promenade des artistes:
- Rock’N’Roll Mobile-Museum
Check out the Rock’n’Roll mobile-museum on the Promenade des Artistes, with an exhibition and workshop on this colourful music genre.
- Group Mural with MU
Give free rein to your imagination as you join mediator-artists to create a group outdoor mural.
- Photomaton and Animation 375th
Join Jeanne Mance and Paul de Chomedy, Sieur de Maisonneuve, and hear their stories about how they founded Montréal in 1642. Have a picture taken with them in our Photomaton!
- Activities and face painting for kids
- Fusiliers Mont-Royal performance 1p.m.
Did you know that Wilfrid Pelletier was a Fusilier and one of the founders of Montréal’s first symphonic orchestra? Enjoy the sounds of the Fusilier’s drum and bugles.
The complete program is available online at museesmtl.org. The Montreal Museums iPhone app also lists the participating museums with “MMD” (and an absolute must download as it will help you know which shuttles to take to which museums!)
Have a great time, we know we can’t wait to take part in this year’s Montreal Museum Day!
